A 58-year-old man from Prince George's County was killed Christmas evening in a two-vehicle crash near Bowie that sent four additional people to area hospitals, according to police and firefighter department spokesmen.
There were four people in each vehicle, said Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said.
The crash occurred at 6:23 p.m. on Christmas at northbound Route 301 and Governor Bridge Road. That intersection was closed for about five hours on Christmas night as police investigated the crash.
The 58-year-old man was a front passenger in one the vehicles and he died of his injuries after being transported to the Bowie Health Center, Maryland State Police spokesman Sgt. T. Staten said.
Four more people were taken to area hospitals, Brady said.
Additional information about the victims and their conditions was not available Friday morning.
