INDIANAPOLIS, IN : Wrong-way crash kills 1, injured another on near northeast on Friday, 7th July 2023

A driver died after they were hit by another driver going at a high-rate of speed Friday night on Indy’s near northeast side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, witnesses told officers the driver of a southbound pick-up truck ran a red light, crossing into the northbound lanes in the 3400 block of North Keystone Avenue just before 10 p.m.

The driver stayed in the northbound lanes, where two northbound vehicles spotted the driver and flashed their lights at the pick-up truck.

The pick-up truck struck both northbound vehicles. A man driving one of the northbound vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, an adult male, was transported to an area hospital after complaining of pain.

According to IMPD, officers in the area attempted to catch up to the pick-up truck when the crash occurred.
