NEW ORLEANS, LA : Car crashes into canal in Metairie on Thursday, 31st January 2019

A driver has been taken to the hospital after crashing into a canal in Metairie, according to The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Public Information Officer Jason Rivarde, the accident happened Thursday morning at West Metairie Avenue and Transcontinental Drive after a two-vehicle crash.
A blue Camry hit a red Trailblazer and knocked it into the canal.
The crash left Trailblazer on its side inside the canal.
The driver of the Camry ran a red light and was issued a citation, according to Rivarde.
Fire crews at the scene said the driver, a female, had been removed and taken to a hospital.
