Windsor, CT : 2 Greeley men die in Windsor crash on Sunday, 11th August 2019

Two Greeley men are dead and a Loveland man was hospitalized after a semi-truck struck a pickup in east Windsor on Sunday evening.

The two deceased men, the 37-year-old driver of the Freightliner truck with trailer and his 63-year-old passenger, died after failing to stop at a sign and colliding with a pickup driven by David Poole, 37, of Loveland, according to a Monday afternoon release from Windsor police.

The names of the deceased will be released once next of kin have been notified.

The crash happened when the 2005 Freightliner semi ran a stop sign going north on Great Western Drive and struck a 2017 Ford pickup driven by Poole heading east on Eastman Park Drive. Police confirmed one person from the Freightliner was ejected. It has yet to be determined if seat belts were worn. Police said the semi struck the pickup on the passenger door and the pickup's airbags were deployed, which police believe likely saved Poole from severe injury or death.

Poole was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he was released.
