A city police officer was injured Thursday night when a hit-and-run driver crashed into his patrol car, according to police.
The officer, who was not identified, was traveling on North Main Street around 8:50 p.m. when the crash took place, police said.
As the officer entered the intersection of North Street, a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe struck his police car, investigators said.
The driver of the Mitsubishi sped away from the scene of the crash, police said. The officer was injured in the crash and was unable to give chase.
Police did not immediately provide any information about the condition of the officer.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and said they will release images of the car when they become available. Anyone who saw the crash or has information about the identity of the driver is asked to call police at 570-826-8106.
