1 dead, at least 2 injured after tractor-trailer in Reynolds Georgia

A woman was killed, and two children were injured in a dramatic truck-SUV wreck Monday afternoon on I-85 southbound in Gwinnett County.
The accident, which occurred about 1:10 p.m., caused a two-hour traffic backup.
Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, said the accident occurred near Steve Reynolds Boulevard when a southbound tractor-trailer changed lanes, forcing a Nissan Pathfinder out of its lane and into the side of a box truck.
The Pathfinder left the road at a significant speed, struck a steep hill between I-85 and the interstate ramp at Steve Reynolds Boulevard, Smith said.
The Pathfinder flipped over several times, ejecting the woman from the front passenger seat, he said.
The woman, whose identity was not being released late Monday, was rushed to the hospital but died of her injuries.
The children were transported to Children’s at Egleston hospital, accompanied by a man who was in the car with them, Smith said. All three are expected to survive, he said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop. But officers with the department’s accident investigation unit located the truck in Cobb County, identified the driver and interviewed him, Smith said.
The driver of the box truck stopped and cooperated with investigators, the spokesman said. That man was not injured, Smith said.
