Defiance, OH : A Defiance woman died following a one-vehicle crash on Monday, October, 30th 2017
A Defiance woman died following a one-vehicle crash Monday morning in the city.
Ouida Johnson, 63, was taken from the scene by the Defiance Fire Department to ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to the Defiance Police Department, at 10:45 a.m., Johnson was southbound on Jefferson Avenue and left the roadway, striking a tree on the west side of the roadway, after reportedly suffering a medical emergency. The vehicle then entered the street, striking a vehicle driven by Maria Rocha, 295 Blanchard Drive, and a tree on the east side of the roadway.
Johnson was found to be unresponsive and transported to the hospital.
Rocha and her passenger, Stephanie Gomez-Ruiz, 18, 295 Blanchard Drive, were taken by the Defiance Fire Department to Mercy Defiance Hospital for minor injuries.
The Defiance Police Department reported that the crash and Johnson's death were believed to be caused by a medical emergency.
Assisting at the scene was the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
