Columbia County, OR : National Guardsman killed in crash in Columbia County on Monday, 20th February 2023

A 29-year-old National Guardsman died Sunday after getting out of his Humvee on U.S. 30, Oregon State Police said in a statement Monday.

The man, Gonzalo Martinez III of Cleveland, Texas, exited a stopped Humvee that had been headed east to help with a mechanical issue in another military vehicle going the opposite direction. That vehicle had pulled over in the westbound shoulder near milepost 60 around 6:23 p.m.
