Danbury ,CT : Teenager killed, another injured when car strikes them near college campus on Thursday night ,july 2nd 2015
A 17-year-old girl died and another teenager was injured when they were struck by a car while crossing a street in Danbury.
Police say Rebecca Draper Townsend of Brookfield died after the accident Thursday night on Lake Avenue near the Westside Campus of Western Connecticut State University. She was a recent graduate of Immaculate High School in Danbury.
Authorities say Townsend's friend and fellow Immaculate High School graduate, 17-year-old Benjamin Arne of New Fairfield, is in serious but stable condition at Danbury Hospital.
Police say a 23-year-old woman from Brookfield was driving the car that hit the teens. No charges have been announced.
The accident remains under investigation.
