Correctionville, IA : 22-year-old killed in motorcycle crash in rural Woodbury County on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016

A 22-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning in a motorcycle accident along Highway 31 in rural Woodbury County.

The victim has been identified as Tanner Hammond of Lawton, Iowa.

According to a news release from the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office, Hammond was driving a motorcycle south in the 2600 block of Highway 31 when the vehicle left the roadway and veered into the west ditch.

The crash was discovered by a passerby and called in to the sheriff's office at 6:31 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies, along with the Iowa State Patrol, Oto Ambulance and Woodbury County Emergency Services were dispatched to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
