Charlote ,NC : USPS mail carrier ID'd after tree fatally hit postal vehicle on Saturday afternoon ,June 20th 2015

A United States Postal Service Mail Carrier died after a tree crashed onto her postal vehicle, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say 43 year-old Lisa Rudisill Wilkerson died Saturday afternoon when a large tree fell on her vehicle, pinning her inside. She was pronounced dead on scene.

Wilkerson was from Sherill's Ford, NC, according to deputies.

A neighbor describes the scene by saying the tree crushed the vehicle.

The accident reportedly happened as a thunderstorm moved through the area around 4:45 p.m. She was delivering mail on Norman Court off of Lakeshore Road North in Denver, NC.

The name of the victim has not been released. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is reportedly looking into the incident.
