Gulfport, MS : 72-year-old Elisabeth McLemore dead, four others injured in a two-car collision on a rural highway on Wednesday, April 15, 2015

A collision on a rural highway Wednesday killed a 72-year-old Lizana woman and injured four others, including a woman authorities said is nine months' pregnant.

Elisabeth McLemore died of blunt-force trauma, Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said.

The crash occurred at 2:02 p.m. on Mississippi 53 at Canal Road.

She was wearing a seat belt and was a backseat passenger in a car that overturned after a pickup truck ran into its side, Hargrove said. McLemore was on the side the pickup hit.

The injured were taken to hospitals with injuries believed to be moderate, Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Benjamen Seibert said.

Initial reports show Austin Reid Blythe, 21, of Saucier, was on Canal in a 2001 Chevrolet pickup and George R. O'Neal Jr., 59, also of Saucier, was on Mississippi 53 in a 2002 Nissan Altima, Seibert said.

Canal has a stop sign at that intersection. The highway does not.

Blythe and his passenger, Christopher K. Davis, 24, of Saucier, were taken to Garden Park Medical Center.

O'Neal and his front-seat passenger, Victoria White, 25, of Gulfport, were taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.

Six state troopers responded, along with other emergency personnel.

Seibert said accident reconstructionists also went to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
