Baton Rouge, LA : All lanes on I-71 North closed for critical crash on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2020

A man died Wednesday night after he lost control of his vehicle and went over a guard rail, Louisville Police spokeswoman Beth Ruoff said.

A MetroSafe spokesman said a call came in just before 6 p.m. for an accident involving a semi truck. Ruoff said the "large commercial vehicle" was traveling north on Interstate 71 in the left lane before losing control.

The driver lost control, crossed lanes and hit a guardrail on Chamberlain Lane, Ruoff said. The vehicle then went over the guard rail and landed on Chamberlain Lane, she said.

First responders stayed on scene around mile marker 9 near Interstate 265 while all lanes were closed for at least an hour. The lanes reopened just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
