BIXBY, OK : Five people are in the hospital after a three-car crash on Wednesday, July 5, 2017
Five people are in the hospital after a three-car crash that may have involved alcohol.
It happened just before 12:30 am Wednesday on 171st Street near 129th East Avenue, just southeast of Bixby.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a car driven by 34-year-old Chad Norman of Bixby and a pickup driven by 54-year-old Johnny Hall of Haskell crashed head-on when the driver of another car crossed into the opposite lane. Moments later, another car driven by 19-year-old Jennifer Burton of Haskell crashed into them. Hall's passenger, 20-year-old Prudence Hall, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The impact completely tore the engine from one of the cars, sending it into the roadway.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to cut open that car in order to rescue two people who were trapped, according to OHP.
Norman's passenger, 40-year-old Marisa Keeland of Bixby, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Troopers have not said which driver may have been drinking.
