Bessemer man killed while putting gas in car on interstate in Birmingham Alabama
A Birmingham man died Wednesday night when he was struck on the interstate while refilling his gas tank.The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Demetrice Revell Pritchett, 41. The accident happened at 7:33 p.m. on Interstate 59 between exits 110 and 108.Authorities said Pritchett was driving his 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe when he ran out of gas. He walked to get gas and returned to his SUV. While he was pouring the gas into his tank, a woman driving a Ford Ranger struck him.Pritchett was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:38 p.m.
