Jamestown, N.D : Dickinson man injured in crash on Interstate 94 west of Jamestown on Thursday morning, December 29, 2016
A one-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 94 about 4 miles west of Jamestown required the use of extrication tools to remove an injured man Thursday morning, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The patrol said Rawuf Issaka, 28, was driving a 2005 Kia Sedona minivan at 11:53 a.m. and was exiting I-94 to a rest area. The minivan lost control on a section of compacted snow and ice and struck a light pole, causing extensive damage, the patrol said.
The Jamestown Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to extricate Issaka from the vehicle. The fire department arrived with 10 firefighters, a rescue truck and a mini pump truck, said JFD Lt. Sheldon Mohr.
“We extracted one person from the vehicle,” Mohr said.
Issaka, who wore a seat belt, was transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center. He was then transported to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
