Blaine,WA : Man dies in fiery Interstate 5 crash near Blaine on September, Sunday 24th 2017
The Washington State Patrol says a man died in a fiery crash on Interstate 5 Sunday when his BMW sports car hit the guardrail and went airborne, landing in the roadway and bursting into flames.
The accident occurred about 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5 about a mile south of Blaine, the patrol said.
The identity of the driver has not been released.
The car was northbound on the freeway when it left the roadway and drove in the median for several hundred feet before hitting a guardrail on an overpass. The vehicle “went airborne,” landing on a roadway 20 feet below the freeway, where it traveled another 100 feet before coming to rest on its top and bursting into flames, according to a WSP report.
