GREENSBURG, LA : Louisiana firefighter dies in crash as he heads to work on Friday, 16th August 2019
A Louisiana firefighter has been killed in an early morning crash when his vehicle hit a tree that had fallen across the road.
The Advocate reports Zachary Fire Chief Danny Kimble says the firefighter, identified as 36-year-old Douglas Glass, was on the way to work, driving his normal route in his personal vehicle. He says Glass had served with the department for two years.The crash occurred on La. 38 in St. Helena Parish sometime before 6 a.m. Friday. Kimble says a large tree had fallen across the road and Glass must not have seen it until too late.
Kimble says Glass' death is a terrible loss for the department. He says Glass left behind a wife and four sons.
