Duluth, MN : A 68-year-old man killed in a head-on collision on Monday, May 29, 2017

Duluth police have identified a 68-year-old man killed in a head-on collision Monday.

Charles Frank Zupancich, of Aurora, was pronounced dead of the scene of the crash, which was reported at 4:19 p.m. on Rice Lake Road just north of Technology Drive, according to a news release.

Police said a southbound car driven by 19-year-old Alex William Day of Duluth apparently crossed over the centerline and struck Zupancich’s northbound vehicle. Day was taken to a hospital for treatment; his condition was not immediately available.

Investigators said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and that there were no signs of impairment. They said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
