Marsing woman killed, 2 critically injured in Idaho 55 crash

A 61-year-old Marsing woman died in a head-on crash on Idaho Highway 55 in Canyon County Sunday morning, according to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office. The crash was reported just before 10:30 a.m.

Thelma Jean Matthews was identified as the woman killed in the crash, which was just east of the Lake Avenue intersection. Two other adults, who were in a different vehicle, were transported to a local hospital. Their names have not yet been released.

Witnesses told investigators that Matthews' Chevrolet station wagon crossed the double-yellow center line of the highway, slamming head-on into a Ford truck.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
