Fairfield,CA : Suisun City man killed in crash in Fairfield on December, Saturday 2nd 2017
A Suisun City man was killed in a Fairfield crash early Saturday near Air Base Parkway and North Texas Street that snarled traffic for hours.
Around 1:20 a.m., police began receiving calls regarding the crash.
Police and fire personnel rolled to the scene and found a dark colored Toyota Sienna, the driver ejected from the vehicle.
Paramedics began CPR, but the driver reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was identified as Luiz Carlos Diaz Medina, 27.
The department’s traffic unit and Major Accident Investigation Team were called to investigate.
As they did, Air Base Parkway was shut down for hours so investigators could collect evidence and document the scene.
The westbound lanes of the thoroughfare reopened just after 11:30 a.m.
The roadway was completely reopened just after noon.
A preliminary report revealed the vehicle had been headed west on Air Base Parkway, west of North Texas Street when Medina lost control and struck a tree.
Police said it’s not known whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.
Investigators are looking into reports that the incident may have involved a second vehicle that left the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
