Windsor, NC : Recently hired Elizabeth City State administrator dies in car crash on Monday 28th 2014
An administrator hired to increase enrollment at Elizabeth State University has died in a traffic accident.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports that 38-year-old Myron Burney died when his car hit a tractor-trailer truck in Windsor earlier this week.
Burney was hired just last month as interim assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management to increase enrollment at the university. Another administrator who held the position, Grady Deese Jr., died in 2009.
Burney had told the newspaper in an article published the morning of the accident that Deese's death contributed in part to an ongoing decline in enrollment. Undergraduate enrollment peaked at almost 3,100 in 2010 but is expected to fall under 2,000 this fall.
