Fort Myers, FL : One dead, one hurt in crash on I-75 near Daniels on Sunday morning, August 7, 2016
A 34-year-old woman was killed Sunday morning after the car she was driving was hit head-on by another driver going the wrong way on I-75 north of Daniels Parkway.
The Florida Highway patrol said that Anne Shifley, 34, of Madiera Beach, Fl., was driving a 2008 Honda south in a middle southbound lane of I-75 near Daniels around 9 a.m. when a 1998 Mercury SUV driven by Brian Canfield, 46, of Fort Myers, hit her vehicle head-on.
The FHP said that Canfield was driving north in the middle southbound lane when the crash happened.
Shifley, who died from her injuries at the scene, was wearing a seatbelt the FHP said..
Canfield sustained serious injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
The FHP report said that it was unknown if Canfield was wearing a seatbelt or if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The investigation is pending, the FHP said.
