Harrison County, IN : 12 injured as Church bus from northwest Indiana runs off road near Corydon on Monday afternoon, September 15, 2014
Indiana State Police say at least 15 children were injured, and all passengers checked out at local hospitals after a bus crash on Lickford Bridge Road south of Corydon, Indiana.
Of the three kids taken to Kosair Children's Hospital, two have been discharged and one remains in fair condition.
The rest of the 39 passengers that were treated at Harrison County Hospital have been released.
According to the Harrison County Sheriff, the bus was likely trying to avoid an oncoming car when it dropped off the side of the road. With a one foot drop in place of a shoulder, officials say the driver was unable to correct it, causing the bus to tip onto it's side and slide into a ditch.
The bus is from First Baptist Church of Hammond in northwest Indiana, near Chicago.
39 passengers were on the bus at the time, including five adults.
Assistant pastor at First Baptist Rick Sparks says the bus was headed to the Indian Creek Baptist Camp in Mauckport, Indiana.
It was one of four buses from First Baptist Church en route to the camp.
Officials say there are no life threatening injuries, but all 39 passengers were checked out as a precaution.
The bus was less than ten miles from its destination when it turned over.
