Newport News, VA : Gloucester man dies in residential construction accident on Tuesday, October, 10th 2017

A Gloucester man died Tuesday morning from injuries he suffered during a residential construction accident in James City County, police said.

The accident happened in the 4700 Fenton Mill Road, according to a James City County Police news release.

Investigators think William Joseph Jowers, 60, was sanding on the second floor of a home about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when he fell to the floor below onto a stairwell, officials said in the release.

James City County Police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene. Jowers was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center where he died, officials said.

This incident remains under investigation.
