HAVERHILL, MA : Man, 28, dies in Haverhill motorcycle crash on Tuesday, 18th September 2018

A 28-year-old city man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning following a police chase.

The Essex district attorney's office identified the man as Stephen Merritt of Willie Street in Haverhill. Merritt died after crashing into a wooden sign in front of Novak Finer Homes on Main Street

Plaistow police said they were pursuing Merritt for speeding just prior to the crash, which happened around 1 a.m., Tuesday, Haverhill police said.
