Omaha, NE : Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run accident in Omaha on Sunday, June 22, 2014

Omaha police have identified the victim of a hit-and-run crash as a Creighton University doctor.

The Omaha World-Herald reports Edward Horowitz, an associate professor of medicine at Creighton, was crossing Dodge Street at a crosswalk with the proper signal when he was hit Sunday afternoon. Police say he was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he died about 40 minutes later.

The vehicle believed to have hit him was found nearby.

The driver, 31-year-old Pedro Diego-Antonio, was taken to jail on suspicion of motor vehicle homicide, felony drunken driving causing serious bodily injury or death and leaving the scene of a crash.

A passenger, 23-year-old Simon Santos-Lorenzo, was taken to jail on suspicion of being an accessory to motor vehicle homicide.
