Des Lacs, ND : 17-year-old Matthew Samson dies after crash at rural intersection on Monday, January 5, 2015

A Des Lacs teenager is dead after a traffic crash about five miles south of the northern North Dakota town.

The Ward County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Matthew Samson failed to yield to a semitrailer at the intersection of two rural roads about 9 a.m. Monday. He was taken to a Minot hospital, where he died later in the day.

The 39-year-old Minot man driving the semi was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.
