BAYONNE, NJ : Family, friends of Bayonne boy killed in Turnpike crash mourn his death on Saturday, 20th August, 2016
Scores of family members and friends gathered at a wake earlier tonight to mourn a 5-year-old city boy who was killed Saturday in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Adrian Lopez was sitting in the back seat of his family's Saturn Ion when the car was hit from behind by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on the Hudson County extension of the Turnpike near Exit 14A, police said.
Tonight at the Bayonne Memorial Home at 854 Ave. C, friends and relatives offered condolences to the boy's parents and siblings before saying a final farewell to the 5-year-old, who rested in a white casket.
"He was always a happy child, a full-of-life type of kid," family friend Andrea C. said, echoing what neighbors have said about Lopez being an energetic, outspoken and friendly boy.
With her husband Paulino and other family members nearby, Lopez's mother Andreina sobbed audibly at times as people embraced her.
