PHOENIX, AZ : Driver accused of crashing into motorcyclist at 140 mph on I-10 in Phoenix on Sunday, 22nd September 2024
A stretch of a busy freeway has reopened after a high-speed crash left a motorcyclist dead early Sunday morning.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on the eastbound lanes of I-10 near 39th Avenue around 1:30 a.m.
Troopers say a driver was speeding at 140 miles per hour before crashing into a motorcyclist. After colliding with the motorcycle rider, the driver kept going for another mile before the vehicle caught on fire.
The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Authorities confirm the car driver was taken into custody and is suspected to be impaired.
