Billerica, MA : Burlington woman killed when car hit a guard rail and telephone pole in Middlesex County early Saturday morning, January 9, 2016

A woman was killed after her car crashed into a guardrail and telephone pole in Billerica early Saturday morning.

According to the Billerica Police Department, the crash occurred on Boston Road around 12:30 a.m.

When police arrived, they found a 25-year-old Ashleigh Snelson of Burlington trapped in her car with serious injuries.

The Billerica Fire Department freed Snelson from the car, and she was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington where she succumbed to her injuries.

Boston Road in Pinehurst was shut down until around 4:00 a.m. while the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit conducted an investigation.

Police said speed was likely a factor in the crash.

No other cars were involved, and the incident remains under investigation by police.
