Two people were killed in a crash in Rowan County Sunday night, according to officials.
The wreck happened around 9:50 p.m. on Old Mocksville Road in Salisbury, not far from the Country Club Hills development. Officials said two people were in a 2002 Jaguar heading out of town toward 7th Street when the driver lost control, over-corrected and struck several trees.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Demario Jefferies, and the passenger, whose name has not been released, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said that both Jefferies and the passenger were wearing seat belts. They said speed appears to have been a contributing factor.
