Roanoke, VA : A Rocky Mount man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Patrick County on Wednesday, August 16, 2017

A Rocky Mount man was killed Wednesday in a motorcycle crash in Patrick County, Virginia State Police said.

A 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Fairystone Park Highway near Pole Bridge Road at 6:08 p.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and hit a highway sign, police said.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old Mack Oscar Gentry Jr. He was wearing a helmet and was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, police said.
