Plaquemines Parish, LA : Alabama woman dead in a car crash on Belle Chasse Highway south on Sunday, June 19, 2016
Louisiana State Police are investigating a car crash in Plaquemines Parish that left an Alabama woman dead. The incident occurred Sunday at 4:25 a.m. on Belle Chasse Highway south at Villary Street.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Megan Manning of Grand Bay, AL.
According to police, Manning was walking in the roadway when she was hit by a 2001 Ford F-250, who was driven by Dean Thomas, 65, Marrero.
Investigators believe that Manning was impaired at the time of the wreck and toxicology tests are pending an autopsy. Thomas also gave a breath sample following the crash and was found to be over the legal limit of 0.08%. He was arrested and booked into the Plaquemines Parish Jail with vehicular homicide.
