State police have charged a central New York man with vehicular manslaughter after they say he drove his car into the path of a motorcycle and killed the 49-year-old woman who was driving it.
Troopers say Christopher Tanner of Marathon was traveling north on Route 11 in his Cortland County hometown around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when he entered the southbound lane and hit a motorcycle driven by Shanon Nasoni of Endicott.
Nasoni was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Troopers say Tanner's blood-alcohol content was 0.21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit. He was also charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right.
Tanner is being held Monday in the county jail without bail. It couldn't immediately be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
