Allentown, PA : Child, woman killed, two other children seriously injured in south Allentown collision on Tuesday night, January 3, 2017

A 7-year-old girl and a woman were killed in a Tuesday night collision in south Allentown that also seriously injured two other children in their car, city police said.

Yaretzi Ramos, 7, died at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest an hour after the 10:35 p.m. crash at South Fourth and Susquehanna streets, the Lehigh County coroner's office said. Christine Rivera, 47, of the 1000 block of Hamilton Street was pronounced dead two hours later.

Rivera was driving west on Susquehanna with three children in her car, police Capt. Bill Lake said. A 32-year-old Warminster woman, driving alone, was headed north on South Fourth, Lake said.

The collision spun Rivera's car into the Gene's Quick Lube lot on the northwest side of the intersection, where her car clipped the front end of a parked car before it stopped. The Warminster woman's car ended up on the other side of Fourth Street, another 100 feet to the north.

Fire rescue crews freed the children from Rivera's car. Besides the woman and girl killed by the crash, two other children, ages 7 and 8, were seriously injured. Lake said he did not know the relationship between Rivera and the children.

The driver of the second car had minor injuries, Lake said.

On Wednesday, a stuffed animal and a candle were placed next to the Gene's Quick Lube building, only feet from where Rivera's car stopped Tuesday night. A Gene's worker said the memorial was left by relatives of the two who died.

Lake said the crash is still under investigation. An overhead police video camera at the intersection may aid the inquiry.

A GoFundMe site was set up Wednesday for the medical bills and family travel expenses related to the hospitalization of Yaretzi Ramos' sister. According to the fundraisers, Yaretzi and her sister are daughters of Bianca Ramos, whose address was not provided.
