New Castle County, DE : Four people injured in crash on Del. 1 in Red Lion on Sunday, April 24, 2016

Four people were injured, two seriously, in a crash along Del. 1 northbound in Red Lion, according to New Castle County Paramedics.

Emergency responders were called at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday to the area of Del. 1 and School House Road for a crash with people trapped, Cpl. David McKinney said. Upon arrival, paramedics found one person heavily trapped inside the vehicle, he said.

A 57-year-old woman, who was trapped in her vehicle, was treated on the scene for a chest injury before she was flown by state police helicopter to Christiana Hospital, McKinney said. She was considered in serious but stable condition, he said.

Another woman, a 62-year-old, was treated for a head injury before she was also taken to Christiana Hospital by a Christiana Fire Company ambulance, McKinney said. She was also considered serious but stable.

Two other people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

State police were on scene investigating, but further details were not released.
