Newark, NJ : 2 dead after tractor-trailer crash on I-95 near Newark on Tuesday, 24th September 2019

One man and a girl are dead, while a woman suffered serious, life-threatening injuries in a crash with a tractor-trailer on I-95 south near Newark Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The tractor-trailer, which failed to stop when it drove up behind congested traffic, slammed into three vehicles, leaving them mangled and scattered across the highway.

The truck itself overturned, its wheels in the air.

Fuel spread across the interstate as paramedics rushed to save the victims. First responders found one, an older man, dead.

The 9-year-old girl was in cardiac arrest, while the woman had "significant body-wide injuries." By about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, the girl had died from her injuries, police said.
