PLANT CITY, FL : Auburndale man involved in U.S. 92 crash on Tuesday, 17th July 2018

A near head-on collision with a tractor-trailer left a Plant City man hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Raymond D. Shipley, 53, of Plant City, was traveling west on U.S. 92 at 6:21 p.m. when traffic ahead of Shipley’s 1998 Chevrolet pickup came to a quick stop. Shipley made an evasive move into the eastbound lane of U.S. 92, the FHP said. That reaction caused the right side of the pickup to be struck by the front of a 2016 Freightliner semi being driven east by Wayne D. Newton, 64, of Auburndale.
