A 40-year-old Rockford motorcyclist died today after being struck by a car at North Central and Ashland avenues.
Tavarous Woodfork was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
The accident occurred about 12:10 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates Woodfork was traveling south on North Central Avenue when a northbound Chrysler Sebring driven by a 27-year-old woman turned west onto Ashland Avenue. Woodfork's motorcycle struck the right front portion of the Sebring, and he was thrown to the pavement, police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, received minor injuries, police said.
It was not known if Woodfork was wearing a helmet.
