MACOUPIN, IL : A 68-year-old Girard man died on April, Saturday 22nd 2017

A 68-year-old Girard man died Friday as a result of a two vehicle crash on Farmersville Road just east of Kines Road in northern Macoupin County.

A 19-year-old-driver, identified as Tressa Perkins of Auburn, Illinois was traveling eastbound in a 2003 Blue Chrysler Van on Farmersville Road on Friday at 2:42 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, she left the roadway to the right. She then over corrected back onto the roadway and crossed over into the on-coming lane where driver Randy Upp, 68, of Girard, Illinois was traveling westbound in a 2007 Red Chevrolet Impala.

Perkins then struck Upp head on in the westbound lane. Perkins’ vehicle turned on its side and came to rest on the north side of the road while Upp, after being struck, left the roadway to the right and came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the road.
