Man killed in a head-on crash in Lincoln County

Authorities have identified a man killed in a head-on crash in Lincoln County Wednesday afternoon.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says two vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 79 near Winfield around 2 p.m. when they collided.

One of the vehicles was sent into the southbound lane and slammed head-on into a truck.
The driver of the truck, 48-year-old Dennis Stevens, died at the scene.
The other driver involved in the head-on crash was taken to Mercy Hospital in serious condition.

Highway 79 was at point shut down in both directions while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
