Fort Wayne, IN : Driver in critical condition after ATV crash on South Whitley Road on Saturday night, August 6, 2016

A Pierceton man was in critical condition after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a tree Saturday night.

Matthew J. Snyder, 31, was driving the ATV south on South Whitley Road, just south of County Road 200 south, when for an unknown reason, he missed a curve in the road and struck a tree, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said. Police were called at 9:55 p.m. Saturday.

Snyder was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Snyder's passenger, Erica F. Alma, 25, of Sidney, was treated at the scene and released.
