CUMBERLAND, RI : Cumberland man, 51, dies in motorcycle crash on Sunday, 22nd July 2018

A Cumberland man died in a motorcycle crash, police said.

John Merrifield, 51, was riding on Mendon Road, near the Pound Road intersection, when the motorcycle crashed at about 8:30 p.m., police said. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved, police said.

Merrifield was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
