Duarte, CA : 21-year-old Los Angeles woman identified as victim who died in multi-vehicle crash in Duarte on Sunday, 15th December, 2019
Coroner officials on Tuesday identified the woman killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Duarte on Sunday as a 21-year-old Los Angeles woman.
Jennifer Gainer Goldsbury was pronounced dead on the 210 Freeway following a crash involving four vehicles on the westbound lanes near Buena Vista Street, authorities said.
About 2:45 a.m. Goldsbury was riding in a Toyota Highlander with several others when it collided with a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Escape, said the California Highway Patrol in a collision report.
The crash happened while vehicles tried to avoid an abandoned Ford Fusion blocking some highway lanes. The car, which had been involved in a hit-and-run crash from several minutes earlier, had also leaked a large amount of oil and other auto fluids, making the roads slick for the oncoming drivers.
Goldsbury was ejected from the Toyota during the crash and later died from her injuries, authorities said.
Though police arrested the driver of the Mustang — Carlos Estrada, 25, of Woodlands Hills — on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said it was not immediately clear whether the he was to blame for the fatal injuries in the crash.
