Utica, NY : Rome man in critical condition after 2-vehicle crash on Rome-Westernville Road on Thursday, August 4, 2016

State Police in Lee are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occured Thursday on Rome-Westernville Road and resulted in a Rome man suffering critical injuries.

At approximately 2:22 p.m., a Toyota pick-up truck and a Mini Cooper collided on Rome-Westernville Road just north of Elmer Hill Road, troopers said.

The driver of the Toyota, Rick Reed, 60, of Rome, was air-lifted via helicopter to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with serious injuries and is listed in critical condition, troopers report.

The driver of the Mini Cooper was not injured, troopers said.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision, troopers report.
