Topeka, KS : Crews on scene of injury crash in west-central Topeka on Monday, 23rd July 2018

One person was transported to a local hospital with what police said were minor injuries following a crash late Monday morning in west-central Topeka.

The collision was reported at 11:01 a.m. at S.W. 12th and Medford.

Police at the scene said a green Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle and a black Jeep Wrangler collided in the intersection.

The Explorer came to rest with its front end against a wooden power pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The Jeep ended up facing southeast in the front yard of 1201 S.W. Medford, on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Police said the female driver of the Explorer was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a Topeka hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

The female driver of the Jeep wasn’t reported to have been transported by ambulance to the hospital, police said. It wasn’t immediately known if that driver would seek medical treatment.

Police said both drivers were alone in their vehicles.

Police at the scene said the crash was under investigation, including whether alcohol may have been a factor.
