GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, PA : 3 injured in Greenwich Township crash on Route 737 on Tuesday, 21st May 2019
Three people were injured in a crash Tuesday on Route 737 in Greenwich Township, state police at Hamburg said Wednesday.
Troopers said a northbound tractor-trailer carrying about 4,000 gallons of paint careened out of control on a curve and entered the southbound lane of the two-lane highway. The crash occurred in the 800 block of Krumsville Road, which also is Route 737.
"The road is very windy in that area," Trooper David C. Beohm, state police spokesman, said.
The truck hit three other vehicles in the southbound lane before rolling onto its side, partially crushing at least one of the smaller vehicles.
Troopers said the driver of the paint truck and the driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles hit by the tractor-trailer were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Their injuries were listed as non-life threatening.
Beohm said the crash remains under investigation and further details, including the identities of the drivers and passengers, will be released when the investigation is completed.
Krumsville Road was closed between Gun Club Road and Eagle Point Road as crews worked to treat the injured and clean up the accident scene. Emergency responders also worked to prevent the paint from spilling into the nearby Mill Creek.
