Malta, NY : 40-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle in Saratoga County on Thursday, January 14, 2016

State police say a 40-year-old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing an upstate New York road.

Troopers say Damon Hinchcliff of the Albany suburb of Clifton Park was crossing four-lane Route 9 around 8:45 p.m. Thursday in the Saratoga County town of Malta, 20 miles north of Albany.

Police say he was hit in the northbound lanes by a car driven by a 69-year-old woman from neighboring Saratoga Springs. Hinchcliff was taken by ambulance to Saratoga Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers say the driver hasn't been charged. Their investigation is continuing.
