York, PA : School bus hit in Shrewsbury Twp. crash on Thursday afternoon, January 5, 2017
A 19-year-old man was severely injured Thursday afternoon after his car lost control, striking a vehicle stopped in front of him as it waited for a school bus, according to Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Chief Tony Myers.
The teenager had to be extricated from his car, Myers said. He was transported by ambulance to York Hospital's trauma center. There were two other people in his car that were able to get out. They were treated at the scene and released to parent custody, the fire chief said.
Fire crews were dispatched to the 700 block of Clearview Drive around 4:25 p.m. for a three-vehicle crash reported with entrapment.
The teen's vehicle and the vehicle that was struck were both heavily damaged, Myers said. The stopped vehicle hit the school bus, but didn't cause significant damage.
The bus had been stopped to let students out at the time of the crash, Myers said. No other students were on the bus at the time of the crash.
The driver of the second vehicle refused treatment, the chief said.
Myers said Pennsylvania State Police are investigating. A state police spokesman could not immediately be reached.
The road was reopened at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Myers said.
